English Discussion: Evolution

Last week in English class, we were given an assignment to discuss about this picture. We were divided into groups of three, and my group consisted of Felice and Toby and I. We studied the picture for a bit and then jumped into the discussion. It wasn't a very fiery discussion but we did get to a pretty satisfying conclusion, hahaha. This is what we got:

  • Humans have good intentions of making a better place, but mostly it turns out into a huge mess
  • Humans have destructive tendencies
  • Evolution isn't always a good thing
  • We need evolution but not too much of it
And after further discussing, we figured that the most ideal environment for us to live in is picture number 7. It's the ideal mix of nature and technology. There are still trees, but it also has paved roads, houses, transportation and cell connection. I could imagine the air still fresh and the streets clean. It seems like a good place to live, in my opinion.

We also think that village Babakan Ranca, the village that we visited for nyaba lembur, reflects picture number 3 or 4. The nature is still unexploited but there are also houses and simple roads, just like we saw there.

We think if we live in a place like in the first picture, it's not very good for us. There are no transportation nor houses, let alone cell connection. It seems very green and unexploited but not suitable for modern humans.

The environment in the last picture isn't very good either. It's way too unnatural. There are no trees that we could see there and there are lots of vehicles, so the air must be quite polluted and hot. Not an ideal place to live in, in my opinion.
